A Rose-Tinted Night. (A Clausella Oneshot.)

A/N: I also posted this on my Wattpad, but I wanted to post it here as well. Any constructive criticism and/or writing advice would be awesome!

The Masked Man was doing his usual rounds during his night shift at the Empire Porky Building. Being Porky's right-hand man and all, he did all of his dirty work with no questions asked. Well, there were some exceptions.

Ever since that cute brunette girl with the space buns was captured and brought to the Empire Porky Building, it made him feel some sort of way. He just couldn't seem to remember who she was and why he was softer with her. He didn't even know what this feeling he had towards her was. But she did have a name, and it was...

"Rose?"

And she was currently sitting on the bed she was assigned and dribbling a soccer ball.

Rosella caught the soccer ball and turned to him, her face a bit red.

"What's up, Claus?" She asked.

"I told you not to call me that!" The Masked Man coldly stated.

He didn't know why she kept calling him Claus. It couldn't possibly be his real name...could it?

He sighed, shrugging it off for now. "Why aren't you asleep?"

"I can't," She answered. "I have way too much on my mind."

As the girl put her hair up into pigtails, The Masked Man started to get a flashback.

It was of a young girl with the same pigtails, except hers were longer.

A boy who looked just like him knocked on her window.

The girl gasped and rushed to open the window.

"Claus?!"

"Shh!" Claus put a finger to his lips. "There's something cool I found in the sunflower field behind my house! Wanna check it out?!" He extended his hand out to her.

"But it's late at night," Rosella worried.

"Please, Rose?" Claus asked excitedly. "It's cool! And I promise I won't let anything happen to you!"

Rosella blushed a bit before smiling. "Okay, then." She answered, taking his hand.

And off the two went!

Rosella noticed he had spaced out.

"Claus?"

The Masked Man snapped out of his thoughts and turned back to her.

"If I take you outside for a bit, will you promise not to run off?" He deadpanned.

Rosella's eyes widened. "I guess I can," she answered. "Whatever for?"

"I dunno," The Masked Man said nonchalantly while opening her cell. He extended his hand out to her. "Now let's go."

Rosella blushed and took his hand, feeling a sense of deja vu.

Some of the Pig Masks noticed the two and didn't know whether to snitch or not.

"What does he think he's doing?!" One of them asked in utter shock. "Has the captain lost his mind?!"

"I dunno," another added. "But how does someone like him get to be with someone like her?!"

A third one was sobbing in the background. "I can't take it!" He cried, blowing his pig nose with a handkerchief. "Those two are just too cute and wholesome!"

"Pull yourself together, man!" The first one shouted, slapping the third one. "She's our prisoner, and he's our boss!"

"Yeah, there's no way the two can be together," The second one piped up again.

The two hung out at the very top of the Empire Porky Building.

"Feeling any better?" The Masked Man asked.

"Mhm," Rosella nodded happily. "I feel a lot more at ease, despite my predicament."

She felt herself drifting off to sleep, so she used the Masked Man's shoulder as a pillow.

This caused the Masked Man to get another flashback.

Rose was completely awestruck at what stood before them.

It was a giant rock from outer space!

"Wow! How did this get here?!" Rosella asked.

"It fell from the sky not too long ago," Claus answered. "You and Lucas slept through it during our sleepover the other night."

"Wow, that's cool..." Rosella yawned and rested her head on his shoulder.

Claus blushed. "Tired already?" He pouted. "Geez, Rose." He picked the girl up and gave her a piggyback ride home.

Their parents kinda figured these two snuck off for a bit but thought nothing of it because 1. Tazmily was one of the safest places to live and 2. The two were only gone for like ten, maybe fifteen minutes.

"If you two wanted to hang out longer, you could have just asked," Bianca told him.

Claus nodded sheepishly. "Yeah, I'll ask next time."

And so he went back next door to his house.

"Geez, Rose." The Masked Man blurted out. "Come on, let's get you back in your cell."

When he got back, he unlocked her cell and placed her on her bed.

He didn't want to leave her side, but he knew eyebrows would be raised if he slept in her room for the night.

So he decided to fall asleep and recharge right outside her cell.

Porky witnessed the entirety of this via surveillance footage and even he didn't know what to think about it.
