Hi. I'm Maurice Raptor, EX-game developer. Back in late 2019-early 2020 I began a project codenamed Project F and later named Mother: Alter.
It began as a small story about kids taking down a smaller threat, but it scaled up a ton from that small project into a time travelling mother fangame.

I paused it back in 2020. I've said before it was cancelled, but in my original farewell message on the Mother Forever forums I stated taht the project would be paused indefinetivelly until I decided what to do with my life. Back then my life was clouded and I kinda blamed this project, but I knew that behind my clouded vision I enjoyed this project so I said I may return to it some day. I'm still considering doing that as a side project. Even if I do it, it would not be my main focus, but a thing I do for pure fun and love to the mother franchise.

For now, this is what I'll do. I'll upload the lastest update avalible in Mother Forever for historical archive purposes and I'll convert the game into a free to use engine so anyone can make their own projects.

Thanks for all the support and kind words when regarding this project to me.

Here's the link to the last version. It lacks specific features, but if I continue it, the next build will have them.

I checked this out and It's amazing! I really want to work with you but I think you can handle it on your own.
Some parts of the battle are ok but this green goblin think is SO ANNOYING I CANT BEAT HIM. So I think you should try to
lessen the battles a bit.

You mean the goblin at the basement?
I'll check it out so it's more balanced. I think back then I intended the player to use Luis's skillset on this earlygame battles. What I've been thinking while replaying the game is that Luis is ridiculously useful thanks to his skills while the rest are just kinda there. The party members need roles to fill, so if I end up finishing this I'll make sure to work that out, since that would fix the issue you talk about since in the first battles the only one that can do stuff is Luis, so if you dont know about how useful he is then you might get stuck. I'll figure some new mechanics out, thanks a lot for the feedback! (also, you might be talking about the goblin boss before the ending of that demo, at the end of the forest after time travelling, but at that point I always find myself having an easier time because since I fight everything I see the characters have unlocked many buff and status PSI)

Remember that everything you're seeing here is WIP, so I'm open to suggestions and feedback. Also since this isn't finalized you might expect changes.

Hi.
I've been working on updating the demo.

here's the link. version 1.3.


  • added option to name characters
  • fixed orthography
  • corrected some dialogue
  • difficulty change (bosses are inmune to paralysis and sometimes crying since those can be so broken that you could just cheese any boss that way)
  • buffed all offensive PSI to make the other party members more useful in battle. (ex. PK freeze alpha went from 24HP damage to 55HP damage. all other PSI have been adjusted correctly)
  • balanced enemies (basically no more one-shotting enemies, wich were an accident. I believe the only way to get oneshotted consistently is being underleveled on the final boss of chapter 1, but balancing that would make the fight boring to the average player that can withstand at least one hit)
  • the glitch that happenned when you entered a hot spring with Carlos in your party has been fixed. (he didnt have an underwater animation set)
  • you cannot change the party order anymore, that could'ce broken most of the cutscenes.
  • the ruby plothole has now been fixed (changes to the bella introduction cutscenes)
  • enemy stats have been adjusted
  • glitch where you could walk in some tiles you shouldnt in the interiors has been patched.
  • intros for the beggining of each chapter (mother 3 styled) are now in the game (still cant believe I didnt add that last time, you litterally couldnt tell when a chapter ended xD)
  • the map glitch has been fixed. (long time ago I tried to add a map feature like mother 2 but it somehow glitched and sometimes when entering fullscreen with F5 it kept opening and closing, but now I completely removed that).
  • PSI Support glitch has been now fixed. (it used to restore HP, not PP, meaning that instead of transfering 10PP from one party member to another it just wasted 10PP and healed 10HP to the other)

Hope you enjoy it more now. I feel the game's more fun this way. If you disagree, please tell me and explain how would you balance it yourself, that way I can make it more accessible to anyone. If y'all can, please try the game now and tell me if it's better. If I get a positive response, I'll continue in this path.

This is what I see when I check how it's gonna look like. The \n<Luis> part calls the name box, so it doesnt show up ingame but it takes space in the editor anyways so it's hard to fix.

heya, im the spriter of this fangame, i will post some sprites now and then :)
I confirm this is true, he made an account so he can post the sprite updates himself.

Also. Current status. Further development is now confirmed. We're gonna first work in update 1.4. It will mainly add the new graphics.

I'll start posting about the enemies and such.

Put \n<USERNAME> under all the text that's what I do
