So, as I said in other post, I played Omori recently. If you like Earthbound (if you're here I'll assume yes lol) you should totally play it. But one thing that caught my attention is how charming characters are. And that lead me to a question: What about Mother characters?
Let's pick Jeff, for example. He's a nerd with a lot of insecurities and a father he hasn't seen in 10 years. Why he can't talk, and then develop him over time, so at the end he's happy, secure...
Even in Mother 3, there is an unused conversation, where the protagonists discuss about their families... THEN WHY IS UNUSED!?!? I mean, I understand Itoi wanted the player to relacionate this characters with real people, (also,at the time protagonists talking that wasn't so common) but I felt feel like they could have a bit more of personality.
Let me know what you think. Should characters talk more? Or they are ok as vessels? Do you think the upcoming unofficial remakes like Mother Encore and Mother squared should change this?

If a new Earthbound game was released by Nintendo in the current year, I would expect the characters to have more lines of dialogue and impactful character arcs. For example, Nintendo’s current two big JRPG franchises, Fire Emblem & Xenoblade Chronicles don’t suffer from having a lack of character development in their characters.

I think it worked for the main protagonists, speccially Lucas, but whast I never got is why when you play as Duster in chapter 2 he's silent, but when he's just in the party anywhere else he talks perfectly. I would've prefered other main characters to talk when ther were the main ones.

Surely this is important to the lore. It's a curse, once the Player's Hand touches you, you become mute until you're released from its grip. (im joking lole)
