I liked his character arc.
He reminds me of a friend who had really harsh bullying in my elementary (those dudes went hardcore sometimes).

He's already paranoid when you first meet him, and asks you to steal an explosive to prove you're trustworthy. If that isn't extreme, I don't know what is. Later in the game he gets a flamethrower. Definitely not something you would expect of the typical "nerd character" of the 80s. Even later in the game, he HOSPITALIZES A MAN WITH A TANK. Mother 1 characters might not get much dialogue, but from what we can get from his actions in the game, Loid is a completely chaotic trash mammal that can and will commit war crimes if he wants to, while still doing his best to help his friends. And that is honestly amazing, and why he is my favorite mother 1 character.
