I guess so. It isn't a bad ide

Everyone's comparing it to this guy.

It reminds me of this old 7-up mascot. Idk why, maybe the hair.
I don't necessarily like it, but I miss when we had mostly cool looking pokemon rather than mostly funny or gimmicky pokemon.
It's probably just that as the times change, the things kids today like change. But I personally think that the things kids like (or at least the things big companies think kids like) are influenced by other big companies producing only that sort of content oriented towards kids.
Like, I don't think kids would hate action orientated content if it aired nowadays on tv for example. When I was a kid I was both a big fan of slapstick shows like spliced away (I believe that's the english name for it, I'm not sure) and flapjack and action ones like Teen titans and ben 10.
In conclusion, I don't think this shift is necessarily brought by a generational change but by a corporative focus shift towards more easy to produce content.
In relation to the pokemon, I feel the designs (since gen 5) have become too much influenced by western cartoons and style of drawing. Even the cooler looking ones have rounded shapes and designs in general. I feel this shift in art style comes from the same place as the one in animation, corporatives think kids would like only certain stuff without noticing that kids like a lot of stuff.
But idk, I'm not a specialist. I often see my brother and other kids his age complain about how there's nothing to see on tv but shows on the style of teen titans go. I like to think that the lack of action oriented shows is why kids keep switching from cartoons to 13+ anime. Am I the only one who noticed that btw?
