How are people enjoying Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have recently come out and I was wondering how are people receiving it.

Users on the forum seem to be vocally positive about it.

I have read that there is controversy about the game’s performance; but, haven’t looked too deeply into it.

I myself haven’t played it, as I pretty much stopped playing Pokémon after Generation 6.

What are your thoughts on Pokémon Scarlet and Violet? Would you recommend to those who feel like the series has gotten stale and repetitive?

It's really cool up to where I played. I think it's a huge leap foward compared to Pokemon Sw/Sh. There are some designs I don't like that much, but the ones I like... Oh! They are good. The starters are the best in a long time for me. With sword I had a hard time choosing one, because I didn't specially liked any of them. With scarlet I really liked them all! The open world Is really well designed in my opinion and it's fun to explore. Game freak took some possibly controversial gameplay desicions, but I personally think that if they didnt take them (things like making the trainer battles completely optional or removing unnecessary textboxes) the open world would've sucked to explore. I really enjoyed the pacing. When you enter the school I tought "fuck, I'll have to commit to going to school in a game xD" but then it wasn't extremely necessary, maybe even completely optional, since they put a time skip and free you to the open world. There's a lot of stuff to do, but not so much that's overwhelming like other open world games. I liked it thus far.

Also, I was dissapointed of the following things:

Spoiler: maybe spoilers (?)

* They give you the box legendary a few minutes after you get your starter. I miss the time when legendaries where hard to get and you had to explore the map adn solve puzzles to find them.

*One of the starters is a furry. I haven't seen it yest, because I don't wanna spoil the game myself, but my brother told me. It sucks that they keep humanizing cats xD

*Shinies dont have a glow on the boverworld but terastalizing pokemon do. It confused me a lot the first time I met one.
