Is a “Multiplayer Update” in the Earthbound Series feasible?

Suppose one would make a ROM Hack that adds multiplayer into old Earthbound titles.

Is it feasible? How would it work?

Personally I think it could work, but would require rehauling the game to be more objective oriented, while keeping the world and assets intact.

Like receiving a collaborative mission to go to Magicant in a team and collect 20 specific items from monsters.

As long as the limit of players doesn't overcome 8 or 10, I think it'll be fine.

But, keep the world intact isn't a good idea at all. Some players probably wanna go to explore afar of his teammates and group later to share the things gathered (well, in bff groups should do so).

Add a bunch of multiplayer quests isn't the only problem in a multiplayer game, and I don't even want to imagine a MMO. From my perspective
