Again, if you wanna look in more detail, here's the old site:

This fangame was part of a trio of cancelled fangames.

It started development arround 2016 in RPG maker XP.

(2016 build)

In 2017 the project moved to RPG maker MV, where it started making progress. At first, Chapurin Kolorado of Magicant, the game's dev, expressed sadness on having to use this software since all the graphics would have to be adapted from 32x32 tiles into 48x48, but after spending some time with it,he started to like it because of the plugins being of easier use than the scripts from XP. This allowed him to add many features, including a fishing minigame.

Later that same year, his MV builds started to glitch out, making him lose all of the progress. He tried everything and it all failed. This forced him to mvoe backwards into VX ACE. He chose VX ACE because it had more accesible scripts than XP.

There's 2018 me asking stuff xD

In 2018 drama ocurred between the devs of the fangame trio, leading Chapurin to pause the project indefinetivelly.
This drama ended with Chapurin's game being separated from the trio.

Later the project resumed. A demo was released may of 2018. During the development of the demo, the project was moved into the Earthbound essensials engine (https://forum.fangamer.com/forum/Fa...-3-Engine-RPG-Maker-VX-Ace/page/1#post2254662) wich can be noted in the sudden change of the battle UI into the default one from that engine here.

In the demo release, he accidentally posted the game's core files instead of the exported demo, allowing anyone to edit it. Luckily I told him (I was following development at the time and was the first to download it).

After all of this happenned, the dev grew stressed at the many issues the new engine brought and moved into Game Maker.

In early 2020, more footage was released under a new thread (https://forum.starmen.net/forum/Fan/Games/Mother-Hoshi-No-Ame)

After this, the game entered a hiatus. Months passed and the dev started a new project, where this story ends.

This is a fangame I was actually following updates from when I was on Starmen.net.
It is a shame I haven't heard much from this. Cause it did looked like it had interesting ideas, and the creator was Mexican.

But then I heard certain controversies, and haven't looked on it much since.

I feel the same. It looked really good, but now with some perspective I think that he might have not planned it all. The screenshots from the first builds differ a lot from what was in the demo.

wasn't this the fangame that got cancelled because the creator was attention hoarding by making multiple posts? honestly that guy had a rough time in his life, but was not a great decision.
the reason you should be mass posting updates is to keep in touch with YOUR community, you don't need attention from anyone else, people WILL play your game if they find it interesting no matter what, I always thought the purpose of those weekly updates was to not let the people think that the project died, but I was clearly wrong and I am disappointed, we make games because it's our passion and we want to make them for fun, and make them the highest of quality as we can with our ability to even consider it as a product for anyone, not because we want millions of attention just because the community is "dying".

I agree to a certain point that the reason almost all the Starmen.net projects failed is because people cared more about seeking attention and gaining fame through screen shots and fake trailers, rather than actually making a full fledged game.

But there is also the disagreement I have that it’s not really this developer’s fault. He was talented in a degenerated community, that didn’t play ball with what he wanted in return.

People need drive to create games to completion, yet there were no incentives, but only barriers set up, in the pursuit of this development.

That is something I hope to fix with Earthbound Eternal’s Working Class Approach of Merit through Labor rather than Signaling.

yeah, but it's sad to have a very promising project get cancelled because of drama, I hope the developer is doing something else now that makes him happy.

Yeah I agree.

In the recognition of learning from the mistakes of the past, I will promise to secure Earthbound Eternal as a social environment in where drama doesn’t happen by allowing a lot of breathing room for talent to prosper on their own reservations.

I'll try to contribute in anyway possible 👍
