Porky vs. Pokey: What do you think happened in-universe?

I believe that in-universe, it was always Porky, but I've seen other theories, like Porky being an insulting nickname he reclaimed.

There’s a lot of fat kids referred to as “Porky” in western media, so perhaps the name change was to avoid accusations of copying other people’s works.

I always tought they changed it because it's a nod the the "american pig" term used by anticapitalists.
