In Earthbound Beginnings, in the developer intended route, Teddy was heavily injured by the R-7038 Mech and left the party and isn’t seen again until the game’s end. However, in early versions of the game,Teddy’s fate after being removed from the party wasn’t concrete if he was still alive or he died.
My first speculation is if Teddy was supposed to die; but, was retconned later on in post development. Or was the developers just negligent and left it vague on purpose.
My second speculation is since Teddy’s survival is canon because of the extra scene, does Teddy have permanent injuries now.
