I recently watched Squid Games Season 2 and I would like to share my thoughts on it.
My Thoughts
-It’s good that the main character doesn’t have that dumb red hair throughout the show.
-The first episode was a great transitionary and standalone story to show that this new season is darker than the last, as I really like the Squid Game Salesman’s acting throughout it.
-The new games were good, though I wish there was more of than the two of them plus the whole “rock paper scissors minus one” bit.
-My favorite characters are the veteran grandmother and her silly son pair, I suppose it'll be depressing when one or both of them die in season 3, despite the long wait time between seasons causing me to forget the significance of their relationship.
-The last episode being a long extended gun fight was so off brand for the show, as it’s no longer a matter of expressing tragedy through fun, but tragedy through trauma.
-Honestly I don’t know why they are going the direction of wrapping of the series quickly, I never seen a season 2 of a well acclaimed season 1 be of less content than the first, but the truth is this is only part 1 of season 2 marketed as season 2 because I guess Netflix wants two monthly periods of being subscribed to, as the rest of their shows are post-modern degenerate garbage not worth subbing to, so in Squid Game’s case, two weaker latter seasons is better than a strong final season.
-It’s like someone took the whole “too many seasons ruin a show” philosophy and shorten the show’s length to only focus on the main character’s journey as opposed to the games themselves, which I feel people would have been fine with it, since the games are fun to watch despite the possibility of being little continuity between the seasons.
-No plot twist, besides the new captain character being a bad guy.
-Still no squids, hopefully the final season makes good on having at least one squid appear in ones of its games.
-Overall, like the main consensus, it’s good as the first half of a season, but it’s ridiculous it’s being considered it’s own season. Regardless Squid Game should’ve been more than two seasons of games, as there is quite a lot of imagination to keep to series going.
