In UraCreatures you need two things to be able to befriend of an UraCreature and those are: incense and a bottle.

The other 3 bottles down are just concepts. Actually a square bottle isn't a good idea

Once the UraCreature wants to join to your team, you just need a empty bottle and the creature itself introduces in the bottle. The UraCreatures are spirits so they doesn't feel tight inside of the bottles and just need to pull out the top of the bottle to get out, this for the wizard for summon they or the creature when it wants to come out.

There are three types of bottles (the colored ones) which are the small bottle, the medium, and the big bottle. While your creature goes with you it will eventually had to evolve cause is level is high or certain requirement has been met, the creature indicates you that are able to evolve but can't do it if you didn't had a bottle more bigger than his current bottle

The big bottles are not exactly for more bigger creatures but yes for more stronger ones. In the beginning obviously you just gonna ned small bottles, and probably you doesn't need bigger ones until you starter creature reach certain level (yes, there are "copies of Caterpie" that evolves fast but even in it's last evolution stage it just need a small bottle)

Change bottle is easy, as long as you have a bottle bigger enough the UraCreature change his current bottle for the bigger one while evolve (small to medium, or medium to big). Then you got the old bottle one more time and lose the bigger one, but: evolve doesn't mean the creature change his bottle, half of the UraCreatures don't change his bottle until the last stage.

You can skip this part.

The fabrication of bottles is a important job for the wizards. Artisans and wizards job in group to get the best materials for make best bottles, in the past the old wizards used clay bottles that in fact was util, but the creatures weren't comfortable at all and those bottles broke easily.

The bottles of glass are much more resistant than those past versions. His round design help the UraCreatures control their power, in case where the power is much bigger or excessive the artisans have to add cones or bars so the creature can release his power in those areas. The crystal are made of sand, silica and other materials of another continent

While a group of wizards go in search of the best materials, the artisans make bottles enough for the needs of the wizards.

I really idea of using size as a concept in the containment of magical creatures, since size is an observable and measurable characteristic.

Questions:

Will the shape of a bottle play a factor in addition to it’s size?

Are there special questlines to collect items to specially manufacture an unique kind of bottle to contain a certain type of creature?

Will you take inspirations from Arabic (BBC genie) or Germanic (homunculi) mythicism?

Answering you
1-The shape matters, if it's square the spirit's power would accumulate in the corners and could break it. That's why all bottles are round so the power can't accumulate in a corner cause there's no corners

2-In this first game not, because the important groups of wizards are in another continent and with them, the artisans. And because it's the first game I want to keep it simple to introduce the world

Discussing with my little brother he accepts the idea of questlines, probably to manufacture a "dark bottle" for creatures that doesn't like the light and probably other variants of that because the bottles aren't only for easy transportation, the good wizards want a comfy habitat too

3-In the beginning no, in the original concept the creatures would walk free with the player but that would occupy a lot of space (six creatures following you, is a lot).

So I made this concept of bottles thinking in shaman's and how they store liquids and essences in bottles, treating the UraCreatures more as a power of nature than an animal. The association with genies doesn't bother me, I end up comparing them too

The cones and bars doesn't affect the shape, they are connected outside of the bottle and act as a bumper. So, they still have no borders
