The 1988 Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu (Legend of Galactic Heroes) is one of those underrated treasures that can be deemed a classic.

When the Muv Luv Alternative Anime fully comes out I assume that it will also be a classic, assuming it's faithful to the visual novel.

This is my favorite anime by the infamous mangaka Sonoda Kenichi(Kenichi Sonoda): "Gall Force". There are so many chapters too!

Ah man, I love retro-styled OVAs like this! Thanks for the great suggestion, it looks really cool! (By the way, didn't Sonoda Kenichi design the characters from "Otaku no Video"? The style looks similar!)

Imagine if Kenichi Sonoda became the 2nd godfather of anime, after Osamu Tezuka, the creator of my favorite film: Astro Boy. (But Astro Boy was in the 60s. Oh, I also love black and white retro-styled 1940, 1950, and early 1960 films too! Even the anime Astro Boy!)

Oh man, that would be so cool! I also really love Tezuka's work, I really hope to read some more in the future! I was introduced to him after I read Pluto by Naoki Urasawa, since he was the writer. I really love how unique the art and ideas are in manga from those older times, especially the 50s like you said. So geometric and simple, yet still so powerful! If you're looking for anime that mimics that style, I recommend Kaiba, Metropolis, and The Big O!

Hi, thanks for those recommendations. I'll check them when I am home. And.. instead watching 1950s movies, I also love 1940s noire movies, and late 1950s noire too. Take an example of The Line-Up. That was a great noire film

No problem! I also love Noire film, especially ones that have psychological elements to them. I've never watched The Line-Up yet, but I'm definitely going to have to check it out the next time I have a chance. It seems right up my alley! I really love how subtly raw yet quirky the way characters act, it just feels so human and real.

Yup! We can't deny the truth. You can also watch Undertow, it has been since 1948! The Line-up has been since 1958. And I also love early 1950 sci-fi. One of the beautiful examples is The Day The Earth Stood Still since 1951! And watch the greatest technicolor comedy adventure since the early 1960s, It's A Mad Mad Mad Mad World! from 1963!

A late 1990s psychological and sci-fi anime which the characters have to fight against aliens with biblical names from The Bible.

Or the third EarthBound sequel(with psychological touches) that follows an adventure of an 13 year old kid with his pet and friends who has to stop the evil Pokey and pull the needles of his hometown out before the evil pulls all of them and destroys the world.

Ah, I love em' both! If I had to choose one though, I guess I'd go with Mother 3 (but NGE isn't far behind)! I just love how quirky it is!
